General Burhan presents proposal to end deadlock on unification of peace soldiers

The head of Sudan transitional government General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has presented to President Salva Kiir a proposal on the unification of the necessary unified forces.

This was during his meeting with President Salva Kiir in Juba earlier today.

Al-Burhan’s proposal aims at forging consensus on the establishment of a unified, integrated and effective command structure for the SSPDF, SPLA-IO, and SSOA.

The details of the proposal have not been made public.

In a joint Communique issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Sudan and South Sudan, President Salva Kiir welcomed the proposal.

It stated that the document reflects President Burhan’s military acumen and his commitment to lasting peace in South Sudan.

In a separate development, the two leaders agreed to set a model of peace through the development of unitized oil fields, including in the Abyei Area.

But there is no mention about the recent attack on the Ngok Dinka by the Mesiriya tribesmen in the Administrative area.
