FUEL PRICES LIKELY RISE DUE TO DOLLAR SCARCITY

Author : | Published: Thursday, August 21, 2014

The South Sudan Business Union says shortage of dollars in the market could lead to increase in prices of fuel and other goods in the country.

Dollars are important for importing goods.

The Chairman of South Sudan Business Union, Ayii Duang Ayii, says they will meet with authorities at the Central Bank and the National Chamber of Commerce to find a solution to the issue of lack of dollars.

“What I know is that diesel and petrol are available. The owners of petrol stations want to raise the price of the fuel due to shortages of dollars in the markets or something like that,” he said.

“If there are fuel shortages in Juba, perhaps it would affect all the ten states.”
