Authorities in Lakes State say four people were killed and three others wounded after fighting erupted at a cattle camp on Friday, February 17.

The State Minster of Information William Kwoji confirms that the incident happened in Thor Payam of Awerial County.

“In Lake States this morning, there was an incident in Thor payam of Awerial County, a dispute at a cattle camp in which four people lost their lives, and three were injured,” Kwoji told Eye Radio.

He added that the government security forces intervened and brought the situation back to normal.

The cause of the fighting is not clear.

Speaking from Rumbek, Kwoji called on the natives not to fight over cattle for it belongs to them.

“So that is what happened in Lakes State Awerial County in particular. The government has intervened and the situation has been brought to normal. We do not expect them to do it again because all the cattle camp belongs to them and there is no need of quarreling or fighting over a cattle camp.”
