Former SSBC director Adil Faris Mayath (-).

The wife of Adil Faris Mayath, a journalist and former director of state-owned SSBC, is appealing to the security authorities to find her husband’s whereabouts after he went missing in Juba for five days.

Mr. Faris was reported missing in Juba on 23rd January – and wife Amira Al-Nahawi said his disappearance is a serious and concerning situation.

She stated in an interview with Eye Radio that there has been no response or update from the authorities on the search for Mr. Faris, and said the week-long disappearance is deeply troubling.

“I appeal to all the relevant security agencies in Juba to search for my husband and journalist Adel Faris Mayat, who is a well-known media figure,” she said from Cairo, Egypt.

“He disappeared from home on Thursday 23rd of January, and there is no official statement from any government agency about his disappearance.”

He said the disappearance of her husband has left the children heartbroken. “The least we need is to find his location and know he is fine. May God help us,” she added.

The manner in which Mr. Faris disappeared remains unclear and the police are yet to comment.
