South Sudan Deputy Head of Mission in Uganda has informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over an unclaimed body of a 22-year-old lady, Tracy Akur Deng Geu who died in Kampala nearly two months ago.

In a letter dated June 16th, addressed to the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Margaret Apuol said Tracy Akur Deng Geu was seven month-pregnant when she died on May 5th.

She called for fund-raising to remove from a mortuary the body of a South Sudanese female who died in Kampala nearly two months ago.

Ambassador Margaret said the matter was reported to the Kampala police by the late Ugandan boyfriend.

Akur had traveled to Kampala via Nimule in 2019 in what the diplomat Apuol described as a desperate journey where she ended up on the city streets.

However, she was employed as a house girl by a South Sudanese woman.

Before long, she was dismissed from the house, a situation compelling her to work as a bar waitress where she met a Ugandan boyfriend, identified as 22-year-old Alex Mumbere.

At the time of her death, she had lived with a clothes vendor in the Bbunga area in Kampala.

In the statement, Ambassador Apuol recommended the raising of finances to clear the hospital bill for the body’s immediate repatriation.
