The commissioner of Mvolo County in Western Equatoria State says he has not been allowed to travel to the county and assume his duties for more than five months.

Commissioner Isaac Sebit Brown Deng said he was appointed to the position in March but has not assumed office due to what he describes as delays in government procedures.

Sebit said he returned to Western Equatoria State on March 18, 2026, but has remained in Yambio while waiting for the necessary procedures to be completed to allow him to take up his duties in Mvolo County.

He said an acting commissioner is currently running the county administration as he waits for further direction from the government.

“As the commissioner of Mvolo County, I was appointed to work for the people of Mvolo, but the delay is still with the government, The community needs me to come, but the government procedures have not yet been completed,” he lamented.

The commissioner said he has no authority to decide when or how the matter will be resolved and is waiting for further instructions from the government.

He expressed concern about the challenges facing residents in Mvolo County, saying the community needs administrative leadership.

“My community is facing so many problems because of my absence. If I were there, I know they would be okay,” he added.

Sebit said the people of Mvolo are eager for him to return and resume his duties, but the timing of his deployment remains with the government.

The government of Western Equatoria State has not explained the reasons for the delay in deploying the commissioner.
