Five killed, several others injured in separate attacks in Ruweng

At least five people were killed and five others injured in two separate attacks in Aling County of Ruweng Administrative Area over the weekend, according to the authorities there.

Simon Chol who is the Minister of information in Ruweng Administrative area  told Eye Radio on Monday morning that the first incident occurred on Saturday in a fishing camp called Kaloj area in Aling County where three people were killed and three others injured.

“One incident took place on the 11th at around 9 p.m. in a fishing base, where we had civilians and armed civilians fishing, doing fishing there. It happened some armed youth from the Unity State attacked the camp at around 9 p.m”, he said.

He says among the wounded is a 9-year-old child and are undergoing treatment at Ruweng hospital.

“That resulted in the death of three, two adults and one girl child wounded, who is nine years old, that was yesterday”, he said.

Speaking to Eye Radio, the minister alleged that the attackers are armed youth from Unity State.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chol said the second attack occurred on Sunday when alleged Arab nomads came under the attack by the same attackers.

Chol said two people were killed and two Arab nomads were injured with many others reported missing.

“We also had another incident that took place yesterday at around 8 a.m. when Arab nomads came under heavy attack by raiders from the Unity State again. That left two people dead, two wounded, and now under treatment in Pariang Civil Hospital.

“There are a number of people missing, some of them are children. We have no reports of their whereabouts”, he added.

When contacted by Eye Radio, the Unity State Minister of Information was not available for  comment.

However, the press officer of the state governor, Koh Koang denies any knowledge about the incident.

” I didn’t get any news about attack. One needs to trace from the site of security because they might know this.”
