The Former Detainees have nominated their ministers for the forthcoming government of national unity.

The nominees include two for ministers and another for a deputy.

Deng Alor Kuol has been nominated for Foreign Affairs, John Luk Jok, for Transport, and Dr Cirino Hiteng as the deputy minister of foreign affairs.

They say this is in line with the distribution of ministries last week: 16 for the government, 10 for the SPLM in Opposition, and four for former detainees and other political parties.

John Luk, spokesperson of the former detainees has confirmed the nominations to Eye Radio.

“It’s very clear and that information is there; we’ve presented all that to the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC),”

According to the peace agreement, each of the peace partners has to submit its nominees to the president for approval and appointment into the particular positions.

On Thursday, presidential press secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, said government officials were consulting on a lineup of ministers that could be announced on the 22nd of this month.

But the spokesman of Dr Riek Machar said the unity government cannot be formed in the absence of his leader.

James Gatdet said Dr Riek would come to Juba after the government has completed deployment of security forces outside Juba and revoked the creation of more states.
