The South Sudan flag at FIFA headquarters in Zurich was flown at half-mast on November 8 as an expression of its solidarity with the soccer fans that were killed in Juba last weekend, FIFA has said.

On 5 November, an armed man attacked people watching Chelsea-Everton game in a bar, killing 10 and wounding several others.

In a letter to the South Sudan Football Association, FIFA President Gianni Infantino condemned the attack.

“On behalf of FIFA and myself… our thoughts are with the families and friends of those have died, as well as the injured victims of these senseless acts, and the international football family extends its greatest sympathy to them at this painful movement,” Mr Infantino stated.

“Today, the South Sudan flag at our headquarters in Zurich will be flown at half-mast as an expression of our solidarity and as a mark of respect for the South Sudanese people at this painful time.”

Police authorities have said they know the suspect.
