Ezo Commissioner issues order on roaming cattle

Author : | Published: Sunday, May 11, 2014

The Commissioner of Ezo County in Western Equatoria State has issued a local order banning cattle keepers from moving with their livestock in the town to avoid destroying people’s crops.

The order prohibits roaming cows, goats, pigs and sheep in the town.

Albert Modie says anyone who violates the order will be charged and fined three hundred pounds per head of cow, and will have to compensate for any damage caused to people’s crops:

“I issued a local order because this is a period for cultivation that everybody who is having cows should tie them so that people are free to cultivate. And whoever does not tie his cow or goats, once it is arrested, it has to be taken to the police and then from the police it will be taken to the court”, the Commissioner said.

Mr. Albert said he has ordered the police to arrest herders whose animals are found roaming in the town.
