A grenade accidentally exploded in a pickup truck in which the soldiers and civilians were travelling to Paloch over the weekend, according to UNMISS.

“It occurred at approximately 11.30 in the morning. An explosive device detonated – at least 200m away from the UNMIS Protection of Civilians’ Site,” Shantal Persaud, UNMISS spokesperson, told Eye Radio.

Ms. Shantal says those injured are all civilians and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital operated by the medical charity, MSF.
