JUBA, (Eye Radio) – The Economic Cluster under Vice President Benjamin Bol Mel has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to timely payment of civil servants’ salaries, following its meeting in Juba on Wednesday.
Lily Albino, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, said the government will ensure salaries are paid on 24th of every month as announced earlier.
Lilly stated that the Economic Cluster endorsed the call of Vice President Bol for enhancement and management of tax collection, its digitization and payment of salaries.
She explained that the cluster will come up with a comprehensive report to be submitted to the council of ministers this Friday.
She added that the government body resolved to undertake President Kiir’s directive to enhance and improve agriculture in this financial year.
“The cluster endorsed and approved the presentation by his excellency, the chairperson of the cluster in areas to do with enhancement and management of non-oil revenue collection and tax collections,” she said.
“Due to the importance of all these topics that were discussed, the cluster also resolved to hold a meeting on Friday to come out with a more comprehensive report and submissions that will then be forwarded to the Council of Ministers for hopefully final endorsement and approval.”
In March, Vice President Bol Mel pledged to ensure that civil servants received their salaries on the 24th of each month. The disbursement came after civil servants and organized forces endured more than ten months without salary payments.
