Taban Peter Pal, a 2005-born South Sudanese artist working in visual art has drawn significant attention with his credible portraits of people, and his latest painting of Dynamiq has prompted the singer to heap praises on the talented youngster.

Taban specializes in hyperrealism, a genre of art that seeks to create paintings, drawings, and sculptures that resemble high-resolution photographs.

This style emerged in the late 20th century, evolving from photorealism and characterized by meticulous attention to detail, often capturing subjects with an extraordinary level of realism.

Using mainly charcoal and graphite on paper, Taban’s thought-provoking drawings – including one of President Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar seated and playing a chest game have been met with admirations.

In his latest work, he has drawn South Sudanese Reggae-dancehall artist and music producer Dynamiq dressed in a short-sleeve shirt with horizontal strips of tan and indigo colors in yellow background.

“I am deeply honored and moved by the incredible painting you created of me. Your artistic talent is truly remarkable, and the level of detail and passion in your work speaks volumes about your dedication to your craft,” said the singer.

Dynamiq said the teenager’s artwork is a “powerful testament to the vibrant culture and creativity” in South Sudan, and vowed to support his journey including using his fame to showcase Taban’s work to the world.
“Artists like you deserve a global platform, and I hope this will be the beginning of more people discovering your amazing work. Thank you for sharing your gift with me. I look forward to seeing more of your exceptional creations and supporting your journey.”

Having started practicing at a very tender age, Taban is said to have been enthusiastic about drawing realistic portraits on paper and other mediums like cardboard and later embraced art after being exposed to various art television programs.

Over the years and even without a formal training, Taban has gradually taught himself how to master the art of hyperrealism through re-drawing and copying artworks of several hyperrealism artists.
