The Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs, Aggrey Tisa Sabuni

The Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs says the current conflict has caused a breakdown in the rule of law and a decline in the investment environment in the country.

Aggrey Tisa Sabuni spoke in Juba last night during a public lecture on the cost of war in South Sudan.

He said: “the cost to the image of the nation, and to the people and to the reputation, and to the name of the country and so on…These are also connected with losing the necessary conducive investment climate. It tends to chase away opportunities of that kind.” He said.

He added: “I also would like to emphasize of the lingering effects on the impact of the war on the concept of the rule of law, cases of insecurity mentioned early on. Breakdown in rule of law can be a very serious cost factor when we come to full consideration of the cost of war whether in South Sudan or elsewhere.”
