Corruption costly for the poor and vulnerable

Central Equatoria

The chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission in Central Equatoria says administrative malpractices, mismanagement of public funds and abuses of office are the main cases of corruption in the state.

Hon. Emmanuel Khemis calls on the public and private institutions to fight against corruption because it hinders development.

Mr Khemis says most of the people are vulnerable in the society because their resources have been owned by individuals.

“Corruption is costly not only for the general public, but mainly for the poor and the vulnerable group. If resources are diverted away from them, it means a few will benefit at the expense of many and this reinforces the existing socioeconomic inequality that our people are facing.” He said.

Mr Khamis says the state anticorruption commission will release a two-year report on corruption on the 15th of December this year.
