Constitution builders given more time

The Council of Ministers has extended the mandate of the Constitutional Review Commission for two years.

The mandate of the commission would have expired at the end of this month.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Rebecca Joshua Okwaci, says the extension will allow the commission to produce a draft permanent constitution.

“That is for it to work very hard to enable it to present a draft constitution text and also what they called explanatory note. That then they will work on it, and come out with that document which will be then presented to the constitutional conference for the deliberations.” Okwaci said.

She said the amendment bill will be presented to the parliament for approval.
