South Sudan men’s national football team lost to Congo Brazzaville on Monday evening in the fourth round of the TotalEnergies AFCON qualifiers in Tanzania.

The showdown at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium ended in favor of the Leopards who scored in the last minute to scoop the three points.

The Congo win followed a bitter 2-1 lose at home to South Sudan in the third round of the tournament on Thursday, March 23.

The Bright Stars had surprisingly beat the highly-rated Congolese men despite being reduced to 10 men by a red-card.

With the Congo defeat, the situation becomes harder for South Sudan to book a ticket in the African of Nations in Ivory Coast this year.

South Sudan have to try their luck in the upcoming games against West African sides Mali and The Gambia in Group G of the qualification.
