Several schools in Namurnyang’s Budi County remain closed due to insecurity in the area, Information Minister has said.

Early last month, fighting erupted in the area, leaving six people dead and others displaced.

Due this, Felix Makuja says some schools shut down in Chukudum town, and have since then not re-opened.

He Makuja says 160 candidates have been affected by the insecurity and called on the county authorities to provide temporary centers   for them in order to sit for their end of year exams.

“It’d really be unfortunate this year if our results and performance would not be as expected,” he added.
