The King of Chollo is calling on the public to join the planned celebration to honor President Salva Kiir for his effort to bring lasting peace in the country, including in the kingdom.

His Majesty Räth Kwongo Dak Padiet said the planned celebration on February 25, 2023, at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum, is under the theme: “Peace and Stability in the Chollo Kingdom”.

He said the event is about the importance of reconciliation, healing, peace and social harmony among the people of South Sudan.

The King said peace and reconciliation will enable people to go back to their homes, recreate their lives and dignity.

According to His Majesty Kwongo, the Royal Honoring of President Kiir is also for the extension of the two-year transitional period, as the countries searches for lasting peace, rather than going back to war.

Jago Oyitjwok Liebo, a member of the Royal Honoring High Committee read out King Kwongo’s statement to the media in Juba this afternoon.

“We have called this press conference to launch the information that His Majesty Räth Kwongo Dak Padiet, the rest of Chollo people will perform according to Chollo traditions and custom, the ceremony, the Royal Honoring of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, His Excellency 1st Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardi on Saturday, February 25, 2023,” he said.

“The importance of peace in Chollo Kingdom and other parts of the Republic cannot be over emphasized.”

“This is a public event and the high organizing committee has the pleasure to invite all the people to join His Majesty Räth Kwongo Dak Padiet in this happy ceremony. Come one come all.”

On his part, the advisor to the Royal Honoring High Committee, Dr. Peter Adwok Nyaba said the planned Honoring of President Kiir by King Kwongo is the beginning of peace and reconciliation among the people.

“Peace is something that is built, it doesn’t come by itself, it has already started with the peace agreement, and in spite of the fact that there are skirmishes, there are troubles, but still people are working very hard to see that peace must reign in the Republic of South Sudan, and this is the beginning.”

“The Royal Honoring of the President of the Republic is a beginning of the process of reconciliation and healing among our people.”

Dr. Adwok Nyaba added that all members of the public can start arriving at the venue from 7 AM in the morning.
