Chief of Defense Force reshuffles SSPDF command

The Chief of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces has reshuffled senior officers of the unified command in consultation with the Commander-in-Chief of the army.

First Lieutenant General, Santino Deng Wol issued the order at the SSPDF headquarters in Bilpam on Monday.

According to the order No – RSS/SSPDF/CDF/03/2023/054 obtained by Eye Radio, Gen.Wol swapped the commander of Riverine Lt. Gen. Garang Ayii Akol Agany, with the Director General of Procurement, Lt. Gen. Ernest Dud Wol Upiau.

He changed Lt. Gen. Thiik Achiek Hol Jok, the Commander of Ground Forces with Lt. Gen Thayip Gatluak who was Director General of Military Productions.

General Wol also shuffled Major General Angelo Jongkuch Jool, who was the SSPDF Chief for Administration with Major General Magok Magok Deng, the Deputy Commander of Ground Forces.

According to the order, the changes have been made in six unified command structures, with eight positions remaining unchanged.

This comes a year after President Kiir unified the command structure of the organized forces.

The unification was previously seen as a milestone in the peace implementation.
