A report on the Abyei-Twic communal conflict has called on the Chief of the Defense Force of the SSPDF to investigate three of its generals for the involvement of their soldiers in the fight in Agok.

The three generals identified by the Council of State report include Major General Akuei Ajou Akuei, Major General Makal Kuol Deng, and Brigadier General Chol Madol.

The senior military officials named were commanders of Battalion 7b and the task force stationed in the Agok area to diffuse inter-communal tension.

The investigation committee recommended that the Chief of Defense Forces launches an inquiry into the accused army commanders.

The investigation compiled by the Council of States found that the military officials gravely contributed to the conflict by allowing the army to participate in the communal violence in early 2022.

The report also found that the conflict between the Twic and Ngok Dinka has been heavily politicized by politicians representing the two communities.

It says the communal tension was fueled by inciting letters written by political and military officials asserting boundary claims contrary to the 1/1/1956 ruling by the Court of Arbitration in the Haque.
