Chollo King honors President Kiir for saving his life
The Chollo Kingdom on Saturday honored President Salva Kiir for saving the life of his majesty King Kwongo Dak Padiet.
His Majesty Dak was flown to Juba when fighting broke out between armed youth in Fashoda County in Upper Nile State in December.
President Kiir said when the government learned of the situation in the area, he sent a boat to bring him from Fashoda County to Malakal town from where he was airlifted to Juba.
“Thanks to the President, for he saved my life twice. So, I thought of invoking Nyikang [founder of Chollo King] to bless the President,’ said Dak.
Meanwhile, President Salva Kiir praised the King for being a peacemaker by bringing different ethnicities together while calling on Chollo leaders to extend similar spirits to other communities.
“I would like to publicly thank you for being a peacemaker and for having set an example in the area of peace making for others to follow. You can count on me on this journey.”
Kiir said he plans to visit Fashoda County, the headquarters of the Chollo Kingdom as part of his commitment to restoring peace in the area.
He added his government would do its best to restore stability in the conflict affected areas but warned against revenge saying, this can overtake the desire for peace.
Kiir did not state when he intends to visit Fashoda County of Upper Nile State but said as soon as he sets the plans.
“It is in my plan to visit Fashoda, the headquarters of the Kingdom. Your Majesty as soon as these plans are in place, I will visit you at the seat of your Kingdom as part of your responsibility to promote peace and our heritage,” he said
Meanwhile, some citizens who attended the honoring of President Salva Kiir have called for similar events in different parts of the country to bring South Sudanese together.
