The President of Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference has traveled to the Vatican, to represent the two countries at the Synod of Bishops.

The Synod is discussing family issues, including controversial topics like divorce and contraception.

Father James Wani, a South Sudanese priest from the Missionaries for Africa, also known as White Fathers, was at Eye Radio this morning.

He told the Dawn program that Gabriel Cardinal Zubeir Wako will present the challenges facing the church in Sudan and South Sudan.

“Nothing has come to us saying that this is the position of the church in South Sudan and Sudan but what I know is Cardinal Wako will talk about the challenges facing the church in the two countries,” Fr Wani said.

Fr James Wani also says the same sex marriage is not God’s will and it is not allowed by the Catholic Church.

“These people who say the same sex marriage is very important, why are they adopting children?” he wondered.

“Let them get children from amongst themselves.”
