The Archbishop of Canterbury at the Anglican palace in the UK says peace, reconciliation, and healing have remained his top priorities for South Sudan.

In a report published on the Anglican newswire, Justin Welby promised to do all in his power to support efforts of the Church in the pursuit of peace.

Archbishop Welbey spoke to a delegation of church leaders from South Sudan who paid him a visit last week in the UK.

They include Arch bishop Paulino Lokudu Loro of the diocese of Juba, Daniel Deng Bull of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan, among others.

“Archbishop Justin Welby welcomed the delegation and expressed his deep concern for the situation,” a Lambeth Palace spokesperson said.

“He informed the delegation of his continued effort in prayer and support through agencies like the Anglican Alliance towards ameliorating the situation.

The church leaders had earlier this month met with Pope Francis and were in the UK to share the same purpose of their visit with the arch bishop.

Archbishop Welby told them he was deeply concerned about the situation in South Sudan.

He assured the delegation of his continued effort through agencies of the Anglican Alliance towards improving the situation in South Sudan.
