Officials from the four states of the Bahr al-Ghazal region have convened a summit in Wau to discuss food security.

The governors of Western Bahr al-Ghazal, Northern Bahr al Ghazal, Warrap and the deputy governor of Lakes State are attending the regional conference.

“The participants at the one-day meeting discussed ways of closing food gap and to access people affected by hunger,” reported Deng Dimo, Eye Radio stringer based in Wau.

The Minister of Social Welfare and Humanitarian Affairs is the coordinator of the conference.

She said the national government has bought more than 100,000 sacks of sorghum and distributed them to the ten states.
