AWERIAL BANS ‘RANDOM SHOOTING’

Author : | Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Authorities in Awerial County, Lakes, have issued an order against the random firing of arms in the area and declared a curfew.

The move comes after an unidentified man fired a gun in the air near the port this morning.

Three bullet sounds were heard around the same time.

A witness said he saw police officers heading toward where the gunshots were heard.

The director of the Criminal Investigation Department, James Mayen Majur, says they are working to identify those involved and the cause of the incident.

“We have no compromise with those people. We heard that they had fired guns in the air. We sent a team to trace them and they will be brought to our office for investigation,” he said.

James added that the commissioner’s office has issued an order restricting people’s movements at night.

He said a curfew will be in place from 7pm to 7am as of this evening.

Earlier this month, a girl was wounded by gun shot during a traditional celebration.

And last month, the Awerial county authorities confiscated illegal fire arms.
