A man shot dead five people in Aweil town in Northern Bahr al-Ghazal State before he was killed by the police this morning.

He accused some of his victims of having an affair with his wife.

“It was yesterday [Monday] when an armed police officer identified to be a Sergeant-Major Luka Lual Thiep shot dead two boys and an old woman around 8PM at Maper West residential area of Aweil town,” reported Eye Radio’s Abraham Agoth from Aweil.

“He then disappeared until this morning at around 7am…..he returned to the same residential area and shot a neighbor with his wife. The reason is said that the two young boys he shot first had a link with his wife.

“According to the police sources, they confirmed that the culprit was told by the neighbors that his new-born child belongs to either of the two boys he killed yesterday while the old woman was said to be the messenger to his wife.

Agoth said the incident caused panic among the residents as heavy security patrolled the town.

He added that Sgt-Maj Thiep was shot dead by the security this morning.
