Authorities in Kapoeta town have arrested an unknown number of soldiers who were involved in random shooting in the town over the weekend. The shooting led to the injury of two people. Kapoeta North County Commissioner Lokai Iko said that the soldiers were under the influence of alcohol when they started shooting rounds of bullets into the air. The SPLA army spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer told Eye Radio that soldiers that are found with arms in the residential areas will be prosecuted. He said random shooting by soldiers in civil populated areas amounts to indiscipline. Colonel Aguer added that soldiers are not allowed to desert their bases and loiter in the residential places with arms.
