Australia donates $1m to assist S Sudanese in Sudan

The Australian government has donated more than $1 million  to the World Food Program to assist South Sudanese living in Sudan.

The donations will be used to buy 600 metric tons of food to feed more than 66,000 people for five months.

There are about 100,000 South Sudanese refugees in Sudan, according to the UNHCR. They fled the violence which erupted on December 15 2013.
