Soldiers who consume alcohol while on duty will be punished, SPLA General Command has warned.

The army spokesperson said strict measures will be taken against those who violate SPLA rules and regulations.

Army spokesperson, Colonel Philip Aguer said no soldier is allowed to drink alcohol or abuse other forms of drugs while on duty.

“Any soldier that is misbehaving in any location should be immediately reported to the SPLA military police, and the Military Police will immediately round up those soldiers who are drunk,” said Col Aguer.

“That’s dangerous because the law prohibits and punishes drinking during working hours.”

Officials have attributed most of the night shooting in Juba to drunken soldiers and police officers.
