Armed Yei youth attack travelers

Author : | Published: March 13, 2016

A group of about 20 armed men attacked and wounded travelers on Yei-Kaya highway over the weekend, an official has said.

They made away with travelers’ valuables such as money and electronics.

The passengers were travelling from Yei River state to the neighboring Uganda on Friday.

Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry told Eye Radio that none of the armed men was arrested.

“We have sent some soldiers to the area,” Mr Henry said.  “Let our people not worry.”

Last week, the state governor announced he had received reports that some youth were leaving their homes for the bush to cause insecurity.

David Lokonga Moses has warned against such move by some individuals who he says are instigating insecurity in the area.

However, he could not explain the motive behind the move.
