Armed men kill 4 civilians in a Juba-Bor road attack

Four people have been killed in a highway attack along Juba –Bor road, an official says.

Two pastors from the Anglican Church in Bor were reported to have been killed in the ambush on Saturday.

Jonglei state acting governor told Eye Radio that a convoy of 5 commercial vehicles was attacked between Gemeiza and Sudan Safari after leaving Juba for Bor at 10am over the weekend.

Aquila Maluth Mam said that only the driver survived after sustaining gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.

“He has been taken to Juba for treatment, but the four who were killed were buried yesterday in Bor,” Mr Maluth explained.

They were attacked by insurgents; sometimes they cross from the west to the east and attack if it is a civilian car without escort.”

Mr. Maluth said the authorities have stepped up joint security operations to patrol the Juba – Bor road.
