Unknown gunmen attacked a passenger vehicle and looted properties along the Juba- Torit Road last evening.

One of the passengers told Eye Radio that the gunmen were using another car, which they parked by the roadside.

When the bus approached the spot, the gunmen started shooting, forcing the driver to stop. The passengers ran for safety in the nearby bushes.

“We were coming from Torit to Juba…. We saw a group of three people. They had guns. They started shooting at us and so we stopped and started running as the shoot at us,” the passenger, who requested anonymity said, adding that they returned to the vehicle after their shooters had left the scene.

The Deputy Spokesperson for the National Police Service, Felix Charles says joint forces have been deployed along all roads leading out of Juba to reduce insecurity.

“So Juba roads have patrols and then we have some joint operation units along these roads to avoid any type of crimes that will arise.”

There have been recurrent ambushes on the major roads to Juba in recent months.
