Maridi court convicts men of poaching

A court in Maridi State has sentenced five poachers to six months in prison for killing wild animals without permission.

The Director of Wildlife in the state, Jonathan Nyari, says the convicts were arrested two months ago.

They will also pay 1000 pounds each as fines.

Mr Nyari says seven others are awaiting trial for shooting elephants.
