A soldier and three suspected cattle raiders from neighboring Sudan were reportedly killed in Fashoda County of Upper Nile State.

According to the Commissioner of Fashoda County, Joseph Aban, the cattle herders looted more than 150 heads of cattle.

The soldier killed belonged to the Agwelek forces of General Johnson Olony.

While the three killed were members of the invaders.

“Some “Arab nomads” came and raided the cattle in an area called “Tabu”. The cattle are estimated to be more than 150 heads. After raiding the cattle, they tried to steal the sheep, and there was an exchange of fire, then they fled and left the sheep,” Commissioner Aban told Eye Radio.

“On Wednesday [January 18, 2023], there were clashes in “Kal-Aban” bush, which led to the killing of a soldier from Agwelek’s forces and the killing of three Arab nomads,

“Their death came after the raiders were being questioned as to why they raided the cattle, but instead, they stabbed a soldier with a knife, which led to a fatal confrontation.”
