Presidential Envoy on Special Programs Adut Salva Kiir is in South Africa for a series of high-level diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Adut arrived in Pretoria on Monday and held a meeting with South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile.

The two discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in mining, oil and gas, infrastructure development, agriculture, and tourism.

They also underlined the need to establish direct flights between South Sudan and South Africa, a step expected to improve medical travel, trade, and tourism between the two nations.

Adut later joined Deputy President Mashatile in a separate meeting with senior officials of the African National Congress.

She then attended a session of the party’s National Dialogue Commission, where she delivered President Salva Kiir’s message on Pan-African unity, socioeconomic equality, and regional solidarity.
