According to a statement from the Office of the Governor, Adil made the remarks during the closing session of the Central Equatoria State SPLM Expanded Leadership Summit in Juba on Tuesday, July 14. “Recommendations based on community interests will not be entertained by the SPLM,” he said.
During the SPLM Leadership Summit in Juba on July 2, 2026, President Salva Kiir, who also serves as the party’s chairman, directed party members to adhere to established SPLM structures when recommending individuals for public office.
He emphasized that appointments should be guided by party procedures and merit, rather than personal interests or community-based lobbying.
Earlier during Jubek Day, Kalsito Ladu had appealed to the party leadership to listen to the voice of the people who want him nominated to contest in the December 2026 elections.
According to a statement from the Office of the Governor, the summit was convened to translate resolutions adopted during the recent SPLM National Leadership Meeting into practical action at the state level.
Addressing delegates, Adil said the National Leadership Meeting, held from July 2 to July 7, 2026, focused on four strategic priorities: mass mobilization, recruitment of new members, resource mobilization, and the party’s readiness for the upcoming general elections.
He further announced that the party’s National Leadership had unanimously nominated SPLM Chairman and President Salva Kiir Mayardit as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2026 elections.
The state SPLM chairperson also outlined directives from the party chairman, including intensified mass mobilization at all levels, reorganization of party structures from the boma to the national level, and ensuring that nominations for elective positions are conducted strictly through established party structures.
Adil emphasized that party procedures and regulations would guide the selection of candidates, warning against recommendations made outside the official structures.
He also revealed that new party registration books would soon be distributed to facilitate a credible membership registration exercise. He urged members to adhere strictly to the SPLM Code of Conduct and maintain party discipline as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
The governor concluded by calling on SPLM leaders across Central Equatoria State to lead by example, strengthen internal cohesion, and work towards securing victory for the party in the forthcoming polls.
The summit brought together members of the SPLM Liberation Council in Central Equatoria State, national and state parliamentarian caucuses, national and state executive caucuses, members of the State Liberation Council, assistant secretaries, state directors, county chairpersons, county secretaries, and representatives of various SPLM leagues.
