A prominent member of the Ngok Dinka says campaign will be launched — to rally South Sudanese behind the results of the recent unofficial Abyei referendum.

Edward Lino, Co-chair of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee, said the support of the people of South Sudan would make their case strong to the international community.

“It’s good and we are going to go ahead these days in order to fine the support and the most important Support is South Sudan.”

Last week, the Ngok Dinka announced the results of the unilateral referendum which has been largely criticized and condemned by the governments of the two countries and the AU.

99.99 percent of the Ngok Dinka voted in favor of joining South Sudan.

“The most important thing to do is that we have Send the all result of what we did her to His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit and now we are waiting for the report from there,” added Mr. Lino.

Mr. Lino also said the African Union should view the results as the final wishes of the Ngok Dinka people.

‘‘It is decision we have taken once and we are not going to return so we ask them to support us.’’

A meeting between the African Union delegation and the Ngok Dinka in Abyei town was cut short this week – after members of the Ngok Dinka started shouting at the AU delegation over remarks they made in the meeting.

The meeting was interrupted when the crowd shouted at the chairperson of the AU Security Council for urging the Ngok Dinka to allow the issue of the referendum to be settled amicably by the Presidents of the two countries.
