The authorities of Jonglei state say civil servants have two weeks to report to work or they will lose their jobs.
They issued an order earlier this week to call on all government employees to report to work by the 22nd of February.
“They are asked to come back because the President ordered that the governors of the three states, Jonglei, Upper Nile and Unity, should go back to their places because all civil servants fled from the towns during the fighting,” Mr Aquila told Eye Radio.
He said the state government will facilitate the return trip of those willing to travel back to the state.
Mr. Melut said it is mandatory for all civil servants to report to work within a fortnight.
“If they don’t come back, it will be either because the person has been killed or has joined the rebels,” he added.
“Either they should assemble in Juba and they will be flown to Jonglei, or those who have crossed to Lakes state –in areas like Guol-yar – can come back using motor boats.”
Mr. Melut said the authorities are carrying out an assessment of the damage caused by the conflict in Jonglei and they will present a report to the President within a month.
