Kiir sets up team to probe Southern Liech killings

The President has formed a committee to investigate the killing of SPLA soldiers and civilians recently in Southern Liech State.

Some youth attacked Mayendit County and killed several people, including a county commissioner.

The investigation team is headed by the Deputy Minister of Interior Ruai Gatlier Gai, with Hon Clement Khamis as the deputy chairperson.

According to the order, they will investigate reports that the commissioner of Koch County mobilized more than 1,000 youth to cause the chaos.

They will also find out the circumstances which led to the killing of the commissioner of Parjathbour County.

Other sections of their mandate include assessing the scale of destruction, the number of cattle raided, and submit their report to the President within 30 working days.
