Oil fields: Gov’t refutes all-foreign-staff evacuation claim

The Director-General in the Ministry of Petroleum has refuted media reports that all foreigners who are working in the oil fields have been evacuated.

He also dismissed reports that oil production had stopped due to evacuation of foreign employees.

Awou Daniel says oil production has been “very stable” since April this year, and the production is 130,000 barrels per day.

“This is not true. We are here to confirm to the public that the production is going on normally,” Mr Awou told the media during a visit to the oil fields in Paloch.

He added that logistics is one of the challenges facing production in the oil fields where sometimes materials needed for work arrive late.

However, the China National Petroleum Corporation, CNPC, announced evacuation of 191 workers from the oil fields in South Sudan after the deadly fighting broke out in Juba in July.
