Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel departed Juba on Tuesday afternoon for an official visit to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a mission to deliver a special message from President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The message is expected to be addressed to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and delivered through His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE and Deputy Prime Minister.
Dr. Bol Mel is accompanied by senior government officials from key institutions. As Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, he is also expected to hold high-level discussions with UAE leaders aimed at strengthening economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
According to the Vice President’s office, the visit will focus on expanding avenues for cooperation, boosting investment, and identifying opportunities that can improve the livelihoods of South Sudanese citizens.
He was quoted as saying: “H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit continues to lead with a firm commitment to building strong alliances with countries that share our determination for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development,” he said.
Before his departure, Dr. Bol Mel emphasized President Kiir’s ongoing commitment to forging international partnerships grounded in peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
“These partnerships are laying the foundations for greater investment, job creation, and growth — ensuring that the promise of a better South Sudan becomes a reality for every citizen.”
