72 shops gutted in Gogrial West market fire

Traders in Gogorial West County, Warrap state are counting loses after a fire burnt down 72 shops in the area on Monday night.

The fire erupted in the Mayom 14 Market on Monday night.

The market is the largest market along the road side in the north of Gogorial West County.

The market is a central market connecting Twic and Gogorial west Counties respectively. The cause of the fire is unknown.

According to the state Minister of Information William Wol Mayom, the entire market was burnt into ashes.

“Last night a fire erupted in Alek Norther Payam, Gogorial West County. The fire left 72 shops burnt down, two generators and two motorcycles were also reported to be burn by the fire,” he told Eye Radio.

Minister Mayom said the traders had lost all their goods and belongings to the fire.

“The cause of the eruption of this fire is still not known but the local authorities are investigating the incident.”
