Four people have been killed by floods in Gogrial West County, an official has confirmed.

“More than two thousand people have also been displaced and eight schools closed down as a result of the floods,” Makuc Aru, commissioner of the county, said.

Some school buildings have collapsed.

As from last week, the area has been experiencing heavy rains, which caused flooding.

He added the flood this year is different compared to last year. No casualties were reported in the past incidents. It wiped out crops in the state in September, 2013.

This brings to 10, the total number of people who lost lives to flooding in the country this year. Recently, at least six people drowned in a Magwi river after they were swept away by strong water current.
