Police in Morobo County of Yei River state have detained a 30 year old man suspected of defiling a little girl.

The man is accused of raping a 12 year old in a nearby video hall in the area last week.

Morobo county women association chairperson Mama Hellen Abure described the incident to Eye Radio, “The boy found the girl watching a video nearby their home and he fed the girl with beer and when the girl became drunk, he took her out of the hall and raped her.”

She said the man is currently in the county police custody, and the victim is being treated at a hospital.

“This case must be handled by the court magistrate and not by traditional chiefs, because they don’t charge according to the law of rape. This girl is twelve years old and we don’t know whether the man is infected and also we don’t know whether the future of this girl will be positive or negative. We condemn this completely,” she said.

Similar cases of rapes were reported in the state last year.
