A 14 year-old girl has been gang rapped in Yambio town, Western Equatoria State.

Medical officials said three elderly men followed the girl to a farm in Fozua suburb last evening.

After the rape, the men escaped, leaving the girl unconscious, according to our stringer, Paul Night.

Neighbors who heard her screaming came and rushed her to the hospital.

The incident comes a day after a motorcyclist was slaughtered on the outskirt of the town on Tuesday, after dropping off his wife at another suburb.

Officials have been reporting such incidents of sexual abuses and killings of women in the last few months.

In an earlier statement to Eye Radio, the deputy governor suspected that local youth, including some members of a vigilante group known as the arrow boys, were causing insecurity.

Whoever, has sexual intercourse or carnal intercourse with another person, against his or her will or without his or her consent, commits the offence of rape, and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 14 years and may also be liable to a fine, according to South Sudan Penal Code, 2008.
