At least one thousand Northen Bahr el Ghazal State police officers have embarked on three months of refreshment training to gain muscles and revive their law enforcement skills.

The training, first directed by Inspector General of Police in December 2023, was launched on Tuesday by Governor Tong Akeen Ngor at Aweil Police Headquarters.

Governor Akeen encouraged the trainees to revisit their skills and knowledge in order to effectively serve the civilians and protect the properties as mandatory task, a statement from his office reads.

‘The Governor directs the trainees to acquire the skills and knowledge that will be given during the training to help them enforce the rule of law and continue to prevent all kinds of crimes in the state,” it added.

The state police commissioner, Major Gen. Philip Madut Tong, said the police training will take 45 days for physical fitness, followed by lectures on the laws of South Sudan and the Police Act.

General Madut said the training will give police officers a chance to revive their knowledge and skills on how to effectively enforce laws and ensure a better relationship with civilians in the country.
