100 million US dollars for Rumbek Airport

The government has approved 100 million dollars to ensure that Rumbek Airport in Lakes reaches international standards. Lakes state is expected to host the 2014 third Independence anniversary celebrations. The state minister for Physical Infrastructure, Daniel Chol Koknyin, said the construction will last two years. Mr. Chol said that upgrading Rumbek airport will ease air cargo transport and travel, adding that the construction work will also provide job opportunities for the youths. The new runway is expected to be operational before July 2014.
