10 children, 2 women abducted in Duk County – Official

Ten children and two women have been abducted in Duk County in Jonglei by suspected armed men from the neighboring greater Pibor area, Authorities have said.

James Samuel, the state information minister, says 14 children and the two women were walking to Duk Padiet from Yuai when they were abducted this morning.

Samuel could not state the gender of the children, but he said they are aged between 4 and 10.

According to him, four of the toddlers managed to escape from the abductors believed to be armed youth from the greater Pibor area.

“There were 14 children who have been abducted today [Thursday] these children were on their way from Yuai to Duk-Padiet,” said Samuel

“The accident happened this [Thursday] morning at 10 am when they fall in the hand of armed men believed to be from greater Pibor,

“During the kidnaping process four children among the 14 managed to escaped and they reported that the six kidnappers were speaking Murle language,

“All the 10 children are below the age of 10, as you know, it is a dry session where people move to find a place to spend the dry period.”
