Author : | Published: Monday, September 26, 2016

A peace conference aimed at ending cattle-related conflicts between Terekeka and Eastern Lakes states will commence today in Yirol town.

Cases of raid have often caused fighting between the two communities.

A 100-member delegation led by Terekeka Governor Juma Ali arrived in Yirol on Sunday.

“Of course as pastoralists, there have been cases of raiding of cattle. Besides, there are some other cattle problems, between the two sisterly states,” said Lodu Philip, Terekeka State Minister of Information.

The conference is organized by Ecom, a USAID funded organization working in areas of conflict mitigation.
